Here are the files prepared by Raffy Mananghaya, Paul Akterstam and colleagues for the "Affordable PC for Education and Development" project (email Raffy here).
May 10, 2008 - NEW - Check the files before downloading: click here (A new window will be opened for you to check files).
Also check out these file directories:
- Mar 20, 2007 - Get and print this inside page of Getting Started manual for MiniPup2.02R (pdf, 362 KB).
- Mar 12, 2007 - Get this readme about the use of MiniPup2.02R and the server sfs add-on (right-click to download, later rename to lamp_202.sfs).
- Feb 2, 2007 - MiniPup2.02R is made more sophisticated in imaging with the addition of Gimp 2.2 (see download links below). MiniPup2.02R is based on Puppy 2.02 (kernel Regression build) by Tempestuous, for running Firefox and the powerful Mplayer. Scribus for desktop publishing is available, too. Many, many more applications are already available in the standard Puppy 2.02 version released by Barry Kauler.
- Get Skype telephony software for your PC: (1) Get the Skype 1.3 dotpup by Paul, and click once to install - so simple! ; (2) Use the original Skype package - download the Skype package here, or try this link. Unzip to /usr/local or /usr/lib and click on the "skype" file inside the folder - that's all ! Drag the "skype" file to the desktop to create a shortcut. Right-click on the "skype" desktop wheel to set its icon, which can be found in the Skype sub-folder "icons". Make sure you save normally at shutdown.
Surprise: Hard disk is not expected here - the PC should have:
- an optical drive - for booting CD/DVD burned with Puppy ISO, and
- Compact Flash (CF) or USB Flash (UF) drive - for saving files and making available other add-ons.
During the first boot with CD/DVD, the CF or UF is prepared with the Universal Installer and finished with the add-on files available here. The CF or UF itself can be made bootable and used in PCs that can boot from USB, and optical drive would no longer be required. Check your PC's boot properties by pressing the indicated key at startup (usually the DEL key). Set your preferred first boot device and go!
- Minipup2.00 - ISO build useful for 128MB-RAM, no-hard-disk PCs (for example, using DVD-RW/CD-RW, Compact Flash, USB Flash, or a combination). Use the base ISO for file management, media playing and browsing - uses the Opera browser/email/chat suite. To use OpenOffice 1.1.4, copy oofc_200.sfs to where you have pup_save.3fs and reboot. (Your save file, pup_save.3fs, is created in your first shutdown of Puppy.) Minipup2 is based on Puppy Linux. The more recent version 2.12 (see below) has more complete drivers, so get it if you encounter problems with minipup2. Released November 25, 2006.
The minipup2 ISO is burned to a CD which then becomes bootable and useful for preparing bootable USB or Compact flash devices. Find Setup from the Menu and run Universal Installer. The minipup CD can be reproduced with diskcopy, or its ISO file can be used to burn new CDs.
For running everything as one complete file, get this complete minipup2-openoffice ISO with this checksum.
- Minipup2.02R - ISO rebuilt from Puppy 2.02 by Tempestuous and called "Regression 2.02". It has Firefox and the powerful Mplayer in addition to the desktop applications that come with a Puppy Linux. It has the Scribus desktop publisher and Gimp 2.2 ! If you want to use Skype, please get the new ISO below.

- Lampup1.09CE - Remaster of Puppy 1.09CE with GrafPup LAMP and DokeOS 1.62 for teacher's elearning server-on-CD. Once used, the teacher's files are kept in the pup001 of the hard disk. It uses the URL http://192.168.0.100/courses, and is administered with the login user=admin and password=eminima (the password can be changed later).
The current limitation is the absence of "Choose File Storage" at boot time (say, choose USB flash "sda1"). Lampup is intended for use by teachers as portable server, so saving in USB flash may be good, although not so reliable as actual saving is postponed up to shutdown time.
- Wikipedia add-on for Puppy Linux, ready-to-serve in LAN - Use wpcd.sfs in the same way that the OpenOffice add-on is being used above (rename it to wpcd_212.sfs or wpcd_200.sfs to match your Puppy version). Visit that donated site for download and further instructions - see the donation message here. Released July 19, 2006.
- Lodpup1b.iso - the LodPup1beta in Puppy 1.08, 90 MB. This is a SCORM player version of the standard Puppy Linux 1.08. Uses the Seamonkey browser/editor/email suite. Released April 16, 2006.
Note: I have posted here the component files of small Puppy 2.10. The pup_210.sfs contains the Firefox browser and Abiword for a 60 MB total size of the ISO. Download for replacing your original Puppy 2.10 files:
Acknowledgment: Thanks to Mark Ulrich and Paul Akterstam for help in building the first minipup, and to Barry Kauler for creating Puppy GNU/Linux. More recently, forum members Tempestuous and Dougal have been adding files here, so thanks to them, too!
